Arkansas

So I recently became a full time (ha because I wasn't putting in quite enough hours before) Photographer! I had to leave my job at the hospital here in La Crosse WI and I am beyond thrilled that I have the chance to chase my dreams and do what I love. So the night after my last day of work at the hospital I flew out for Cabot Arkansas to H&P Ranch. I had a wonderful time with Joe, Mariann, Darren, Jen and Cody and of course the fabulous horses!! The Pear trees were in flower and the weather was beautiful :-) What a great ending to my X-Ray Tech career!!!!
Mariann has an incredible love for her horses... It really shows!
See the amazing pear trees!!!
This is Phoebe.. she was my company in the Polaris

This baby is going to be crazy good!

I love Lizzie!!!
Stanley Cuddling!
I saw this field when I drove in the first time.. I'm glad the photo gods let us have good light.. and wind shelter here!

Thank you to Mariann and Joe for having me out! I had a blast!! Good luck this season!

Peanut's first photos

Peanut (Winning on an Impulse) is my horse and also my first model. I was so excited with how her photos turned out this summer day in 2006 that I decided to call myself Impulse Photography.
These are a few shots from her photo session!
Peanut the Beauty Queen!
And here she is in a more recent picture... she's pretty sassy. :-)

She's gotten to be my model for a Purina's 'hay shortage' photo shoot with Ricco! Ricco is my mom's horse.

Her latest gig has been with LuansLeathers.com   I AM A HUGE FAN OF THEIR AMAZING TACK!!!  I am addicted! Check out their site! I was thrilled when the opportunity for me to do product photography for them came up! I of course bedazzled peanut in their tack for a few photos!

Have a great day! :-)

The Beginnings...

Hello! Here is an adventure, starting my first blog! Bare with me.. I'm not so good with this writing thing but I'll give it a shot!
**Disclaimer** I am 69% right brained (I just took a test). I enjoy taking pictures and that's what I am going to write about. If grammatical errors bother you, don't start reading this! :-) Have a good day!

Tigger

SO I thought my first post should be a little about how I got this dream that is Impulse Photography going! I still remember the night very clearly... I think I was about 13... I had just finished riding my horse 'Tigger', It was dusk, and in my eyes... he looked the most amazzzing he ever had before! I went in the house and got my mom's film Pentax SLR (I LOVE FILM), found Tigger's most beautiful headstall, proudly announced to mom that I was going to be a photographer and Tigger and I headed out to the field... the picture to the right is what I  got that night... when the film came back... I decided I better come up with a 'normal' job to occupy my dreams of the future.

Don't get me wrong, I still LOVED taking pictures... I would take so many pictures that I would often be told to knock it off! I now understand... paying to get an entire roll of pictures of one bird on my latest field trip to the zoo was probably not what my mom wanted to spend her hard earned money on! Thank you for being lenient on my crazy snapping at a young age and developing all of my pictures mom! :-)

In High School I discovered the dark room.. I was a bit of a dork and admittedly spent more than one lunch hour in there. I really couldn't get enough of it, I was hooked.

Dark Room Days
After High School I decided I was going to school to be an X-Ray Technician. I finished my schooling and got a job at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital.

Still mildly obsessed with photography. I started taking pictures of my new, beautiful black dream horse Peanut (who you will hear about constantly, she's my love!) Those were the first horse pictures that I thought actually turned out! Her name is Winning on an Impulse. It was only fair this new venture would be called Impulse Photography. :-)
